Adoption Exchange has put together a list of ways that you can help foster children in Colorado. From the Adoption Exchange:
Volunteers are always needed to help with special events such as adoption parties and fundraising events. If your volunteer time is limited, it may be best for you to work on these one-time events. Special events are also a great opportunity for youth groups, civic clubs and businesses to get involved.
Commitment for all events is on an as needed basis.
“A Day for Wednesday’s Child” Docuthon
Every Spring, KCNC News 4 sponsors a telethon benefiting The Adoption Exchange. It is geared toward familiarizing Colorado viewers with the children waiting for permanent homes, as well as to raise support. Volunteers participate in this fundraiser by answering phones at CBS4 to accept pledges.
“A Day for Wednesday’s Child” is aired in the spring.
Each Spring before “A Day for Wednesday’s Child” Docuthon, a drive is conducted for funds via phone solicitation. Volunteers help raise funds by calling past donors. The Adoption Exchange will use the funds to show donations pledged prior to the day of the “A Day for Wednesday’s Child” Docuthon at CBS4.
Adoption parties are networking events for waiting children and prospective families. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks at the events.
We have 3-4 parties throughout the year. (Background check required)
“Champions for Children” 2011 Golf Classic
We need volunteers to help with registration, on-course activities, soliciting auction items and helping to coordinate/plan the event.
The Golf Tournament is usually scheduled in June.
Fantasy Ball, our premier fundraising event, takes place annually in the fall. It features dinner, dancing, a silent and a live auction. Volunteers help by soliciting auction items and sponsorships and general planning for the program. Volunteers are also needed during the evening of the ball for general support, particularly with executing the silent auction.
The next Fantasy Ball will be in November 2011.
